AMERICAN CIVIL LIBERTIES UNION OF NORTHERN CALIFORNIA
Mission
The American Civil Liberties Union of Northern California (ACLU NorCal) conducts legislative lobbying and community organizing efforts in support of civil liberties. Founded in 1934, ACLU NorCal works to preserve and guarantee the protections of the Constitution’s Bill of Rights, with particular focus on ensuring the extension of these freedoms to segments of our population who have traditionally been denied their rights. In addition to the litigation for which ACLU NorCal has been known over the past eight decades, we also educate the public, inform the media, organize grassroots activists, lobby legislators, and disseminate information about our constitutional freedoms through our membership and volunteer chapters.
